Carver’s Lego Legends place 8th in the region

The international FIRST Lego Robotics Competition offered Carver kids an opportunity to excel. Carver fielded five teams that built, tested and programmed autonomous robots to solve a set of missions related to food safety. Our first-time Ponus Middle School team named Lego Legends placed the highest, 8th in the region, defeating many teams with years of experience. Led by Dr. Fred Pierre Louis, a Ponus science teacher and Carver afterschool staff member, Carver youth gained new confidence in what they are capable of achieving. Next year the team is quite determined to win at least the regional competition. By combining the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology Dr. Pierre Louis is winning the grand prize each day by introducing Carver youth to discovering how fun learning can be.
